Tina Fey Says “Say Yes”

February 24, 2009 | Relationships

I recently read an interview Oprah did with Tina Fey and I was struck by something she said in the interview. Oprah asked her what it was like to do improv and Tina Fey said that when she was acting she never knew what she was supposed to be thinking about when she was on stage. Her mind would go off into thoughts like “how does my hair look?”. But she said when she did improv the focus was always clear. “You’re supposed to be listening to the other person so you know how to respond. Improv involves a lot of agreement. It’s all about saying yes to the person you’re across from, because if you don’t say yes, the sketch is over.”

I love that. When you say “yes” to the person you are in communication with, whether it’s your boss, your friend or your significant other, you allow communication to keep going and with each moment you open more and more doors. One of the best ways I know of to say yes when you are in relationship or communication with someone is the actively listen. Here’s what it looks like when you are actively listening.

Numerology and Your Challenge Numbers

February 24, 2009 | Numerology

I was working with a client the other day who kept bumping up against the same issue over and over again. it was showing up in her work and in her relationship and it seemed that every time she saw it, she resisted it so much that it became even stronger (because everything we resist persists, right?)

So, we decided to dive back into her numerology chart and look at her challenge numbers. Some numerologists place more emphasis on challenge numbers than others. I am one of them. I have found that for whatever reason, these numbers not only offer incredibly valuable information but also the challenges, once identified by my clients, seem to fall away more quickly and open new doors of understanding.

Numerology and Your Life Purpose

February 23, 2009 | Life Purpose Numerology

“Life Purpose” is one of those phrases (is it a phrase if it’s just 2 words?) that gets thrown around all of the time but it seems that very few people really get what it is. I say that because very few people are living it…though they may constantly be seeking it.

In fact, I have had clients I have worked with on this who think they are living their purpose but with just a few questions or challenges, it becomes very clear they are not only not living their purpose but they are living someone else’s purpose. Actually, this is nearly always evident from the stress, illness and tension they were feeling; but, sometimes it helps to put it into a more intellectual framework in the beginning.

Life, Work, Love – You Can’t Do This Wrong

February 19, 2009 | Transformation

Nothing in your past was a mistake because whatever it was, was all you could do. Forgive yourself for whatever it is you think you could have done differently, forgive others if you are holding on to grudges for what you think they did TO you without your permission, let go of the thing that has no relevance in the moment….the past, and let go of the thought that you could do this wrong. It’s simply not possible.

Transformation: From Anxiety to Calm

February 12, 2009 | Transformation

The truth is you can only be doing exactly what you’re doing right now so it can only be ENOUGH. It can’t be good or bad, fast or slow, too much or too little. It can only be exactly perfect.

Entrepreneur’s Inquiry: Breaking Through Your Story Instantaneously

February 10, 2009 | Transformation

When I work with women entrepreneurs most of them are stuck in some part of their business. On the surface they may not be selling enough products, they are not getting the visibility they want or they are simply working too long and too hard for the money they are earning. But those are simply surface manifestations of a much bigger issue.

Awareness: Nothing is Missing

February 6, 2009 | Transformation

Most of us spend most of our time hanging out in what you could call your conditioned mind. This is the place where the mind is working on, fretting about and tinkering with what is missing. This is the place where solutions are generated, strategies are exectuted and remedies designed. The conditioned mind loves nothing better than to have a problem to fix and with the way our minds often work, there are no shortages of those.

You see the mind works on preferences, our likes and dislikes, and it seeks to avoid pain (our dislikes) at all costs and maximize our pleasure (likes) as much as possible. So our mind tries to hold on to what we think is “good” and reject anything we determine “bad”. And, believes our happiness is a result of aligning our experiences with those things we experience as “good”.

Do You Keep Your Promises?

Just over 18 months ago I was about ready to throw in the towel. I was working my butt off in my business but the money and clients were not rolling in. I was writing, marketing, creating, coaching and spending money left and right on information products, seminars and coaches but it just wasn’t coming together.

I was beyond frustrated.
